Slow-release pheromone formulations were developed for major pests of rice, viz., yellow stem borer, Scirpophaga incertulas, leaf folder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis, pink stem borer, Sesamia inferens and caseworm, Paraponyx stagnalis. These formulations were tested at ICAR-IIRR and at different locations under AICRPR. At all locations, maximum adult catches were observed with slow-release pheromone formulations compared with standard normal formulations. Mass trapping with yellow stem borer slow-release pheromone formulations recorded highest catches in 12 traps per acre with a maximum percent reduction in white ear damage (45.8-54.9%) over control. These slow-release formulations were made as kits, which consists of a pheromone trap, sticky liner, slow-release pheromone formulation, clips and thread to tie. These kits were distributed to 400 farmers under SBI DSR project in collaboration with KVK, Kampasagar, KVK, Wyra, KVK, Kothagudem and KVK, Gaddipally. These were also distributed to tribal farmers at Dhanbad (150) under TSP component of CRP on biofortification and farmers of NEH region (100) at Nugaon near Guwahati under NEH component of CRP on biofortification. These kits are being commercialised through Agriinnovate India Limited. A pamphlet was made in English, Telugu and Hindi.
