World Water Day WEBINAR on Value of water in Agriculture for Rice Cultivation on March 22, 2021

WORLD WATER DAY

ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad

The institute organized a webinar on World Water Day (22nd March 2021) on“Value of Water for Agriculture -with reference to Rice Cultivation”. The key speaker was Prof. V. Praveen Rao, Vice-chancellor, PJTSAU a well known international Water Specialist and researcher. More than 150 participants including scientists from different ICAR institutes, AICRIP co-operators, students and staff from PJTSAU were taken part in the webinar.In his exhaustive and informative lecture, Dr. Praveen Rao outlined the major issues concerning water management with reference to agriculture and suggested possible future strategies to improve water productivity and water use efficiency in rice crop.

Dr. D. Subrahmanyam, Director(A) of the Institute highlighted the significance of celebrating the World Water Day.

To raise awareness on the global water crisis and value of water among the students, adrawing and poster competition was organized in which 73 students were participated from several schools( 10 schools )  of Rajendranagar and Budvel taken part.

Posters were evaluated and 12 best posters were identified for awards.
